2017 Woman of Achievement Nominee
Kim Voelker has a passion for service and says that she is motivated by helping others to achieve
success both personally and professionally. As the Vice President of Community Development
for the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, Voelker demonstrates that passion on a
Shortly after coming on board at the Chamber, Voelker became the driving force behind the
creation of a new women’s group. “I wanted to present businesswomen in our community with
meaningful avenues for them to make connections with other businesswomen,” explained
Voelker. Her vision led to the creation of the Chamber Women’s Network in 2016 and since that
time hundreds of interested women have attended various network-sponsored events which
provide continuing opportunities for leadership, growth and mentoring.
Prior to starting her current job, Voelker spent a number of years at Montgomery Bank. She says
it was there that she became heavily involved in volunteer work– volunteering for both the
Chamber and the United Way of Southeast Missouri as well as March of Dimes and Big
Brothers/ Big Sisters to name a few. Later, Voelker was hired as Campaign Director for the
United Way where she worked on various projects aimed at strengthening families in our
community. She also coordinated the Read to Succeed Program at local elementary schools.
Voelker continues to volunteer for the United Way and currently serves on its Community
Investment Committee as well as serving on the board of Levi’s Children’s Charity and the
board of the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Missouri. Her heart for service and her “can
do” attitude have not gone unnoticed. Voelker was chosen as one of Business Today’s 40 under
40 in 2009 and as a Business Today Newsmaker in 2016.
Voelker, is a graduate of Fredericktown High School and a lifelong resident of Southeast
Missouri. She lives in Cape Girardeau with her husband Darren and her son Conner.
